Oasis Academy Wintringham were victorious at the U14 Central venue league held at Grimsby Institute with a 100% record having won all 7 of their fixtures over a 3 week period. In the final week, they defeated Humberston B 20-2 to claim the title and land a progression to the Level 3, County event on Tuesday 3rd February! It was the tense, 16-10 victory over 2nd place Tollbar in week 1 that proved decisive for Wintringham and inflicted Tollbar’s only defeat. Healing B finished in 3rd having only been defeated by the two teams above.
Event organiser, Mike Womersley said, “All matches were played in a great spirit with some fantastic passing, dribbling and shooting on show. All students were a credit to their school”
The event was supported by the Grimsby Snaprats Community Basketball Club and volunteers from Grimsby Institute and Franklin College. Their contribution as always is greatly appreciated and ensured the event ran smoothly. Thanks also to the Grimsby Institute for allowing the competition to be played at such fantastic facilities.
