The North East Lincolnshire School Sports Partnership Y5/6 Quick Sticks Hockey event took place on Friday 18th October at Oasis Academy Wintringham. Canon Peter Hall, Elliston, Nunsthorpe and Thrunscoe were all represented at the event.
Event organiser, Mike Womersley said:
‘All games were closely fought, played in a great spirit and with a high level of skill on show’.
The final was contested between Lisle Marsden ‘A’ and Elliston ‘A’. Lisle Marsden ‘A’ went on to beat Elliston A 3-2 in a tightly contested final.
School Games Organiser, Nick Hanson said:
‘Quick sticks is a great way of introducing children into the game of Hockey. The game is 4-a-side which encourages them to be more involved, to get more touches and help them develop their basic skillset’
Representatives from Grimsby Hockey Club and student volunteers from Grimsby Institute, Franklin College and Oasis Academy Wintringham supported the event, so a big thanks to them as the competition wouldn’t have run as smoothly without their support!
