Y7 - Y10 Rugby CVL
The Grimsby & District Y7- Y10 Rugby CVL got uinderway this week, kindly hosted by the Oasis Academy Wintringham & supported by the North East Lincolnshire School Sports Partnership.
Y7 & Y8 League Additional Rules
- No kicking at any time.
- Unlimited tackles, no loss of possession after 5th tackle.
- Penalties – tap & pass, defence to retreat 5m.
- Tap & pass to restart the game after a try is scored.
Y9 & Y10 Union Additional Rules
- No kicking at anytime.
- Rucks – teachers advised to ensure no coming in from the sides.
- Mauls – encourage to go to ground, if maul collapses, defending team gains possession.
- No lifting at lineouts.
- Scrums – 3 man uncontested, players encouraged to bind shoulder to shoulder & follow the crouch, touch, pause, engage procedure. It was agreed that has the CVL progresses if two teams/teachers are happy to go contested then they can do so.
- Penalties – Defence to retreat 10m, attacking to restart with drop kick.
- Utilise Rugby 7’s restarting method whereby the team scoring a try takes the kick to restart.
Generic Rules
- Rolling subs
- No half time, one period. Timings to be confirmed on the night.
- For friendly Y11 fixtures please contact relevant staff personnel.
- If matches are continuously finishing in a draw, if both teams/teachers agree the match could include or be concluded with a drop goal at the posts.
- Players to form as tunnel at the end of each game to promote sportsmanship.
- Scores will be collated to use as a method of measuring progression rather than forming a league table.
- It became apparent that if you are intending on bringing a dual year group team the RFU request you obtain parental permission to do this.
- Equipment - gum shields recommended, no glasses to be worn, must wear boots.
