KS3/4 Cheerleading Competition

Shake your pom poms for region's first school chearleading contest

North East Lincolnshire has hosted its first ever school cheerleading competition – to great acclaim.

At Grimsby's Oasis Academy Wintringham yesterday, eight teams from six North Lincolnshire schools gleefully waved their pom poms and smiled their way through two routines.

Around 100 girls – plus one boy – performed a "cheer dance" and their best chant, in a bid to win one or more of seven prizes.

The North East Lincolnshire schools taking part were Oasis Academy Wintringham, two teams from Tollbar Academy and Healing School.

North Lincolnshire schools competing were Winterton Comprehensive, Barton-based Baysgarth and two teams from the St Lawrence Academy in Scunthorpe.
