Matthew Franklin from South Parade Primary School organised a G&T visit to one of the top rugby union clubs in the country, Leicesster Tigers!!
Read Matthews's report of the visit:-
The children arrived at the Leicester Tigers Training ground at 9,30 and started training at 10am. The head coach asked before about their level of experience. Because all the lads had played in the NEL rugby tournament and had the tag rugby sessions prior to that from NEL coaches, they were able to move onto contact rugby. Which was very enjoyable and muddy.
After this we went over to the main training centre and met and had q & a with Aarron Mauger. Aarron Mauger is a New Zealand international who has played at many world cups! Our group had chance to chat with him and ask questions individually as well as part of the bigger group. Questions ranged from what car he drives, to what was the worst injury he's had to who is better Richie MacCaw or Lewis Moody?
Then we had a tour around the gym facilities and gained an insight into the training regime of a pro rugby player. After this was over we were given our match tickets and made our way to the ground. Got in, spent a fortune at the club shop, wathced the match and had a parade around the pitch at half time.
Home by half seven!
