KS2 Boccia

The North East Lincolnshire School Sports Partnership’s first ever KS2 Boccia competition took place on Tuesday 17th March at Oasis Academy Wintringham, Grimsby.

Taking part were representative teams from Scartho Junior Academy, Great Coates Primary School, Thrunscoe Primary Academy, Weelsby Academy and Oasis Academy Nunsthorpe with three players involved in each team.

The format of the competition was a single group format, with the top 2 schools progressing into a final. The standard of play improved throughout, resulting in a highly competitive event.

After the group stage concluded, it was Scartho and Oasis Academy Nunsthorpe who finished as group winners and runners up. It was Nunsthorpe who took an early lead in the final with the leading throw the result of outstanding spin and control. Scartho responded with some accurate throws which fell just short, with Nunsthorpe’s final ball landing within inches of their first leading ball, landing them a 2-0 victory – congratulations!

Event organiser, Nick Hanson said, ‘The event was a great success with all pupils enjoying themselves, growing in confidence and skill level as the competition progressed. A special mention to the young leaders from Oasis Academy Wintringham who helped support and officiate the event. We look forward to the event growing and more teams entering next year.’
