Y5/6 High 5 Netball Competition
On Friday 6th June the North East Lincolnshire School Sports Partnership’s Y5/6 High 5 Netball tournament took place in glorious summer sunshine at Oasis Academy Wintringham. The event was superbly attended, with 16 teams involved across 4 groups. Progressing through to the quarter finals were group 1 winners, Scartho A, & runners up, Healing, group 2 winners Scartho B, & runners up Enfield, group 3 winners Macaulay & runners up Scartho C and group 4 winners Signhills & runners up Canon Peter Hall B. After a pulsating quarter final stage, Macaulay & Signhills contested the first semi-final and Scartho A and Healing contested the 2nd Semi Final in two tightly contested games. Signhills beat Macaulay 3-1 whilst Healing defeated Scartho A 3-2 to book their places in the final. The final was an exciting and tense end to end affair, with Signhills defeating Healing 4-3 to be crowned the 2014 North East Lincolnshire High 5 Champions! Event co-ordinator Mike Womersley said: “All pupils were a credit to their school in what was a keenly contested event. Congratulations to both Signhills and Healing who will now be representing North East Lincolnshire at the county finals in Hull on Friday 11th July” The event was supported by Oasis Academy Wintringham young leaders Rhea Hanslip and Lauren Mullen who umpired the competition. Their contribution was greatly appreciated and ensured the event ran smoothly.
