‘Playground to Podium’ is a new national strategy for the identification, development and support of talented young disabled athletes. The Playground to Podium framework forms a pathway which will take young disabled people from PE, through participation, to high level performance and competition.
The ultimate aim of this pathway is to produce our next Paralympians and elite disabled athletes by providing structured pathways in disability sport from schools to community clubs and onto performance environments. Linking into this framework are the player performance pathways from National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGB’s), providing performance environments and high quality coaching for identified talented participants to enter County, Regional and National squads.
The School Sport Partnership has been tasked with delivering the following elements of the Playground to Podium project:-
