What is a Leadership Academy?
A Leadership Academy is essentially a 'Leadership Club' designed to provide regular, high quality support, training and development for young people that are committed to actively volunteering within their school and / or community.
The aim of the Leadership Academy is to help these committed young people to develop and grow as leaders and volunteers.
What opportunities will I gain from being part of it?
The Leadership Academy booklet contains a range of courses specifically designed for young sports leaders. It covers a range of sports and disciplines including coaching qualifications and umpiring awards. With the exception of the Coaching Disabled Performers Taster Session, all of the courses contained in this booklet are nationally recognised qualifications and will act as your first step on the coaching pathway.
As a member of the Leadership Academy you will receive a special discounted price for each course. These courses can be very costly and students should take full advantage of the special rates offered here.
Please note that places on each course are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Students outside of the Leadership Academy will also be able to attend courses although they will not be entitled to the discounted rate. So to guarantee your place - book early!
What will be required of me?
Following training, you will be offered a range of volunteering and leadership opportunities that will enable you to put your new found skills into practice. Some of these may be officiating at an inter-school competition or event whilst others may be community placements in sports clubs.
It is hoped that you will take up as many of these opportunities as you can as it is these experiences that will set you apart for the rest of the crowd when applying for colleges, university and jobs in the future!
Where can I find more information?
